KCI / Acelity – Global Virtual Team Integration | Leadership Team Support

The challenge:
KCI is a globally advanced wound care company that manufacture products both in KCI plants and licenced plants across the globe. Site locations range from Mexico, US, Ireland, UK, Belgium, and China. In addition to its global footprint, KCI has a highly complex matrix management business model. Acquisition is key to its growth strategy.

Gearóid’s services were enlisted to support John Elwood Senior Vice President, Operations and his global team during this period of acquisition and growth whilst also hitting demanding production targets.

The approach:
Gearóid developed several different interventions to support John and his team. He firstly created a bespoke 360 feedback process for the leadership team. From there, he delivered personalised coaching (in-person and virtually) for John and his global leadership team and provided guidance in their semi-annual offsites across various plants.

Incorporating an Adaptive Leadership model, he focused on the development of a diverse and multi-faceted team that manufactured products in Mexico and China and to its global supply chain. He provided particular support to John during the acquisition phase of a new business. The programme included the selection of a plant manager from within the company, to the development of a significant change programme which addressed several culture issues. (Including a Yorkshire-based plant where long-standing employees were challenged to adopt very different ways of working under its new American parent company). 

The Outcome:
A cohesive high-performing global team which worked well together across plants, geographies, and disciplines, collectively meeting their in-stock rates.
